Bill Gamble: A Mechanical Engineer’s Journey into Volunteering

Bill Gamble is not your average retiree. With a career spanning 30 years at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, where he played a pivotal role in developing mechanical systems for advanced military jet engines and Space Shuttle Main Engines, Bill’s retirement didn’t mark the end of his passion for mechanics and problem-solving. Instead, it opened the door to a new chapter in his life as a dedicated volunteer. For over ten years now, Bill has been an invaluable part of the Plant Operations/Maintenance team at EWCH (Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital), where he contributes his skills and expertise to support the facility’s daily needs.

Bill Gamble is a vital member of the Plant Operations/Maintenance team at EWCH, a role he has diligently performed for 10 1/2 years. His presence in this department has been instrumental in taking care of routine tasks, allowing the Maintenance Staff to concentrate on the more pressing demands of the facility.

Bill and his wife, Kathryn, have been proud Murphy, NC, area residents for the past 20 years. In addition to his volunteer work at EWCH, Bill is actively volunteering at his church and various local charities. His commitment to giving back to the community is both commendable and inspiring.
