Chattanooga, Tenn. – This year’s Dragon Boat Festival made a huge splash in the water at TVA Park on Chickamauga Lake raising more than $107,000 for Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

“One of the amazing things about the event is that we are still receiving donations from supporters,” said Amanda Whitaker, annual giving coordinator for Erlanger Foundations.

Forty-six teams lined the Tennessee River bank on May 21 to compete for the fastest team on the river and the team who raised the most money for Children’s Hospital.

“The top fundraising team was Mesa Associates (Power Paddlers), who raised $16,068. The second place team was EMJ Corporation (Team EMJ) with $7,623 and third place was Children’s Surgical Services (Operation Sleepyheads) with $7,376.20,” said Whitaker.

The Heritage Funeral Home (Pallbearers) won gold as the fastest team for the third straight year after being challenged by silver award winners Chattanooga Ski Club and bronze team BLEW-BY-U from Blue Cross/Blue Shield. A close fourth place went to Northwest Georgia Bank (Northwest Navigators). Awards were also handed out to division winners and team results and can be found by going to http://chattanooga.racedragonboats.com/.
