Erlanger to break ground for LIFE FORCE hangar in Winchester

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Erlanger Health System will hold a groundbreaking celebration for LIFE FORCE’s new hangar at the Winchester Municipal Airport on Wednesday, November 4, beginning at 9 a.m. (Central Time).

“Erlanger is pleased to have its fifth air ambulance based in Middle Tennessee,” said Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, President and CEO of the Erlanger Health System. “Being located in this area will allow us to provide faster aeromedical services to the citizens and visitors in this region.”

Erlanger’s LIFE FORCE — which transported more than 2,143 patients during fiscal year 2014-2015 — provides the critical care team for medical operations, and Med Trans Corporation provides pilots and mechanics for the aeromedical service. Med Trans equips the LIFE FORCE fleet with Airbus EC-135 helicopters and Bell 407 helicopters. The EC-135 model will be stationed at the Winchester base.

In addition to the Winchester location, LIFE FORCE has four other bases operating throughout the region to serve those within a 150-mile radius of Chattanooga. With headquarters at Erlanger’s downtown hospital at 975 East Third Street in Chattanooga, LIFE FORCE also provides emergency helicopter transport from bases in Sparta and Cleveland, Tenn., and Calhoun and Blue Ridge, Ga.
