Erlanger rings in the New Year with first and second baby born in Chattanooga

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Erlanger Baroness Campus is proud to announce the arrival of the first baby born in 2014 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Many New Year’s celebrations are spent with family and friends, but not for the Arevalo family. The beginning of 2014 turned out to be quite different.

“Most of our New Years are spent together with family, but this time it was spent with each other and the new baby. I did not miss celebrating. This is the better moment in my life. This is not an every day thing.” said Rene Arevalo talking about the birth of his son.

Rene and Gilda Arevalo of Chattanooga, Tenn., welcomed their new baby boy into the world at 12:17 a.m. at Erlanger Baroness Campus. Evan Arevalo is 22 inches long and weighs 9 pounds 3 ounces. Both mom and baby are doing well.

Evan is not the only member in the family to have a winter birthday. In fact, his 8-year-old sister, Emely, was born on December 29 and Gilda’s birthday is on December 4.

Emely says she is not quite ready to help change diapers, but she cannot wait until Evan starts walking. The staff at Erlanger has a feeling she will be a big help to her parents and a loving sister to her little brother.

Not too far behind Evan was the second baby born in Chattanooga at Erlanger East. Carrie and Trey Hicks, from Apison, Tenn., have a new baby girl. Tenley Hicks was born at 2:53 a.m., weighing 7 pounds 14 ounces and is 21 inches long.
