Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Avery Mixon to The Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders. Dr. Mixon will be joined by Drs. Manoo Bhakta, Eric Gratias, and Jennifer Keates.

Dr. Mixon, board-certified in general pediatrics and fellowship trained in pediatric hematology and oncology, earned his Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi and his residency at the University of South Florida. In continued his training at Vanderbilt University, completing his fellowship training in pediatric hematology and oncology.

Dr. Mixon is an associate member of the Southern Medical Association, Children’s Oncology Group, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and a trainee with the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.

The Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital is the only comprehensive Cancer & Blood Disorders Center in the region and treats over 3,500 patients each year. With more than 50 children in our region diagnosed with cancer each year, 95% of them will receive the latest treatments at Children’s.

Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is part of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) – an international research organization which designs protocols for cancer treatments – and offers a multidisciplinary care team including surgeons, radiation oncologists, critical care physicians, nurses, child life specialists, and social workers.
