Erlanger Women’s Institute for Specialized Health (formerly WISH) and the Erlanger Center for Women (formerly Chattanooga Center for Women) have joined the Erlanger Medical Group – the region’s fastest growing physician practice.
The two OB-GYN groups are the newest members of Erlanger Women’s Services, along with UT Erlanger Women’s Health Specialists whose practice is located in the Erlanger Medical Mall and who also have satellite/outreach offices in Bledsoe County and Dunlap, Tenn.
Erlanger WISH physicians Dr. James Bolton, Dr. Tiffany Few, Dr. Donna Hobgood, and Dr. Chris Portera, along with Physician Assistant, Beth Rockwood and Certified Nurse Midwife, Leigh Faerber see patients at their Erlanger East Hospital office on Gunbarrel Road.
Dr. Phyllis Miller and Nurse Practitioner Charlotte Smalley will remain at their Hixson, Tennessee location inside the Northgate Professional Center on Hixson Pike. Drs. Bolton and Hobgood will also continue to see patients at the Hixson office, in addition to the Gunbarrel Road location.
Dr. Portera and his staff have moved their office to Erlanger East Hospital from Glenwood Drive.
The Erlanger Center for Women practice, with Dr. Gary Brunvoll and four Certified Nurse Midwives, Meg Brasel, Amy Anderson, Sarah Smith and Katie Garrett, is located off Gunbarrel Road at 7490 Ziegler Road.

Phyllis E. Miller, M.D., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She attended medical school at the UT Memphis Medical School and completed her residency at Baptist Hospital in Memphis and Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. She is the founding member of the Women’s Institute for Specialized Health and has special interest in menopause, pelvic floor disorders, and gynecological surgery – including minimally invasive surgery.
James P. Bolton, M.D., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He attended medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and his residency at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He has a special interest in obstetrics, incontinence, menopause, as well as minimally invasive gynecological surgery.
Tiffany P. Few, M.D., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She attended medical school at Emory University School of Medicine where she also completed her residency. Dr. Few has a special interest in low and high risk pregnancies, adolescent gynecology, polycystic ovarian syndrome, irregular bleeding and menopause.
Chris Portera, M.D., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a member of the American Urogynecologic Society. He attended medical school at Albany Medical College and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology as well as his fellowship in uro-gynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery at the University of Tennessee Memphis. He has a special interest in surgical and non-surgical incontinence, vaginal prolapse, minimally invasive gynecology surgery, and menopause.
Donna K. Hobgood, M.D., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. She has a special interest in obstetrics, non-interventional childbirth, gynecological surgery, women’s health and menopause.
Bethany Rockwood, PA-C, is board certified and a licensed physician assistant. She earned her bachelor of science degree from Middle Tennessee State University and her masters in physician assistant studies from Trevecca Nazarene University. She specializes in a wide range of women’s health issues including yearly checkups to ICU insertion and management, biopsies and menstrual irregularity management.
Charlotte Smalley, NP, is an advanced practice nurse and is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She earned her bachelors of science in nursing from the UT Knoxville College of Nursing with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Leigh B. Faerber, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife. She received her bachelors of nursing from Southern College and her masters of science of nursing from the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Gary Brunvoll, DO., is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and complete a Family Practice Residency at Memorial Hospital of Burlington County in Mount Holly, New Jersey and his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the first physician in Tennessee to perform a robotic hysterectomy and has certifications in advanced operative laparoscopy and laser surgery, and advanced colposcopy.
Katie Garrett, CMN, is a certified nurse midwife and attended the School of Midwifery at the University of Alabama Birmingham
Sarah Smith, DNP, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife and attended the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in Hyden, Kentucky. She recently completed her Doctor of Nursing Pracitce with a focus on pregnancy care for women after bariatric surgery.
Amy Anderson, CMN, is a certified nurse midwife. She received her bachelor’s degree of nursing at Southern College and received her master’s degree of nursing from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff of Nursing at Emory University.
Meg Brasel, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife. She received her master’s degree in midwifery from the University of Cincinnati. She also has an anthropology degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.
