Orthopaedics: Bringing additional expertise

Three orthopaedic surgeons and an interventional physiatrist are joining the Erlanger Orthopaedic Center of Excellence, bringing its total number of specialists to 16. The four local specialists joining the center are currently associated with Chattanooga Bone and Joint Surgeons.

We welcome:

• David Bruce, M.D., who is fellowship trained in both sports medicine and pediatric orthopaedics. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and completed a residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine (UTCOM) in Chattanooga at Erlanger.

• Jeremy Bruce, M.D., who specializes in orthopaedic sports medicine injuries. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine and completed his residency at UTCOM in Chattanooga at Erlanger. He also completed fellowship training under the direction of James Andrews, M.D., a renowned orthopaedic surgeon, at the Andrews Institute.

• David Lowry, D.O., who, as an interventional physiatrist, specializes in the nonoperative management of spine problems, including spinal injections. He attended medical school at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency with the University of Tennessee at Siskin Hospital and Erlanger.

• Peter Lund, M.D., who specializes in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries. He attended medical school and completed his residency at Tulane Medical Center. He also completed a Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. These four specialists will continue seeing patients on Gunbarrel Road and will operate primarily at Erlanger East Hospital.

“One of our key initiatives has been to dramatically expand Erlanger’s academic orthopaedic services and surgical suites in order to better serve this community and region,” said Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, Erlanger President and CEO. “The addition of these four highly respected specialists to Erlanger’s team will enable us to provide an even wider range of orthopaedic services for both children and adults.”
