Phase one of our $50 million expansion project, which included the first part of a Surgical Services expansion, is complete.
The Surgical Services expansion doubled the unit’s capacity, adding four state-of-the-art operating suites and several recovery room beds. More expansion and renovation is still to come — transforming the space to better meet patient and family needs. When the patient tower at Erlanger East Hospital opens in December, the Surgical Services space will include a new lobby and family waiting area, a catheterization lab, a special procedures room, eight operating suites, 14 post-anesthesia care unit bays, and 22 pre- and post-op recovery rooms.
The medical and surgical nursing unit for overnight patients features private rooms in a quiet and relaxing environment. Staffed by registered nurses, the unit includes a family kitchen and room service available for patients and their families. This space provides convenient short-term care for patients recovering from surgery, as well as those needing treatment for a wide range of acute conditions, including illness or trauma.
Erlanger East Hospital offers surgical procedures for men, women and adolescents. Surgeons utilize some of the most advanced technology available, including high-definition imaging and laparoscopic (minimally invasive) techniques. Minimally invasive procedures benefit patients in a variety of ways, including smaller incisions, faster recovery times and improved clinical outcomes.
