Erlanger Rhythm Specialist Receives Highest Honor

Chattanooga, TN – Dr. David Gbadebo, cardiac electrophysiologist with UT Erlanger Cardiology, recently became the first cardiac electrophysiologist in the region to achieve fellowship status from the Heart Rhythm Society.

This designation, the highest award given in the field of electrophysiology by the Heart Rhythm Society, is bestowed upon the Society’s most esteemed members for significant achievements, service, and prominence in the field of cardiac arrhythmia. Dr. Gbadebo will be recognized during the Heart Rhythm Society’s annual meeting in May.

Dr. Gbadebo, who has been practicing in Chattanooga for 10 years, is board-certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and, cardiovascular disease and specializes in the management of cardiac rhythm problems. After receiving his medical degree from Emory University, Dr. Gbadebo completed an internship and residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He also completed fellowship programs in cardiology from Duke Medical Center and cardiac electrophysiology from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Gbadebo has been published in multiple journals including the Circulation, Clinical Cardiology, American Journal of Medical Sciences, and Clinical Electrophysiology Review.

In addition to his work with UT Erlanger Cardiology, Dr. Gbadebo serves on various committees and is the Chair of the Electrophysiology Committee and Secretary of the Association of Black Cardiologists. He also gives presentations at various medical conferences and continues to engage and collaborate in clinical research with other hospitals, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
